Why Did I Choose Photography?

I was born in a very strict Asian household where following standard education system is supposed to be the only key to success. My parents believe that all kinds of hobby can affect my academic performance. Thus, I didn’t have any hobbies until I turned 19 years old.

The more I relive my past, the more I believe everything is meant to be. I moved the U.S when I was a nineteen. I had little to no friends here in San Jose until I started school and began my new and exciting life in a new country. One day, my classmate, Kavin, he brought to class his little film camera. For some reasons, I couldn’t stop looking at it and ask him if I could try it. The nicest Kavin said yes and showed me to the world of photography. As how it was, I was enlightened by Kavin and started to fell in love with the camera.

After using his for a month, I got my first ever camera which is a Sony Nex-5T. I had so much fun using it to capture fun moments for my friends and family. I brought it with me everywhere. Spending hours sitting down and editing my photos never seems too long. At first, I thought it’s just a quick interest since I have a pattern of getting bored fast. Little do you know, five years later, I’m still doing the same thing: photograph meaningful memory for my friends and family and forgetting about time editing photos.

This is me falling in love with photography all over again with my first Fujifilm camera. I was passionate with camera and the color science enough to do many research about cameras. Finally, I found the one that match my budget and my needs.

After few years, I’ve come to the conclusion why I love photography so much is how it brings me joy everyday. I’m a very introverted person so you know how hard it is for me to leave my room. It’s crazy how photography has brought me outside to breath the fresh air, to connect with other people who have the same passion, to help everyone save their life-time memories and most importantly, connect to my inner creative self that I would never thought I have.
